Pokémon BDSP: How to Get Kingdra
Kingdra is a Water and Dragon-Type Dragon Pokémon in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl that is the final evolution stage of Horsea. Kingdra is able to perform Swift Swim, doubling its Speed during rainy weather, and Sniper, which increases the power of critical hits by ×1.5, dealing ×2.25 its normal damage when crit is successfully applied. Damp is Kingdra’s Hidden Ability, preventing Pokémon from using Selfdestruct or Explosion. Hence, Pokémon BDSP Kingdra is one of the best competitive Water-Type Pokémon in the game.
There are two primary methods of getting Kingdra in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, both of which require the National Dex. The National Mode for the Pokédex is acquired by becoming the Champion and completing the Sinnoh Dex by seeing all 150 Pokémon in the base game. Once Trainers have accomplished these two activities, they will be able to receive the National Dex from Professor Oak in Sandgem Town. Afterward, players can attempt to obtain Kingdra through the first method — fishing.
To encounter Kingdra through fishing in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Trainers will need the Super Rod, only obtainable after receiving the National Dex. Players can get this rod by starting a conversation with a fisherman located north of the docks in the Fight Arena. By answering “yes” to his questions, Trainers will be rewarded with the Super Rod in Pokémon BDSP. Next, head to Route 226 and fish at the body of water east of the Survival Area. While the chances are quite slim, players might be able to fish out a Kingdra.
How To Obtain Kingdra In Pokémon BDSP
Alternatively, Pokémon BDSP fans can evolve Kingdra from Horsea or Seadra, its previous Pokémon forms. Both Horsea and Seadra can be encountered by fishing on Route 226 with the Super Rod. However, if they are not able to find either of the Pokémon, they can try their luck within the Grand Underground. Inside of Still-Water Cavern, Riverbank Cave, or Fountainspring Cave, Trainers will have a slight chance to encounter Horsea.
After catching Horsea, players can evolve it into Seadra by leveling it to Level 32. In the rare case that the Horsea is already at Level 32 or higher, the next time it levels up is when it will become Seadra. To gain a level quickly for any Pokémon in Pokémon BDSP, Trainers can feed it a Rare Candy. After obtaining Seadra, Trainers can trade-hold it with a Dragon Scale to evolve into Kingdra. Dragon Scales are evolution items that are potentially held by the following Pokémon:
