Harry Styles is no stranger to flamboyant outfits, with the popstar-turned-actor sporting a range of head-turning looks over the years.
From feather boas, velvet, leather, lace, pearls and bold prints—think clashing stripes and polka dots—the 27-year-old has never been afraid of pushing the boundaries of fashion.
And his latest shoot with magazine Dazed didn’t disappoint, with the former One Direction member gracing their cover in a pair of purple trousers and a peek-a-boo top, while sitting astride a motorcycle.
The full shoot for the winter 2021 edition was shared on their website, showcasing another 11 outfits as styled Ibrahim Kamara, ranging from corsets to dresses, which featured a top hat and a woolen long-john suit.
But it’s one ensemble in particular which has set the internet ablaze, seeing Styles dressed in what appears to be a green two-piece, with the fluffy material boasting chunky sleeves and a hood-like collar.
Photographed by Rafael Pavarotti, Dazed lists the attire as hailing from the Jean Paul Gaultier archive, accessorized with satin gloves from Miscreants, polka-dot tights from Ibkamaras Studios, and leather kitten heels by Comme Des Garcons Plus.
But fans summed up the look in two words: the Grinch.
A snap of Syles’ bright wardrobe was shared to Twitter by Nathan, posting under @heavyinmymind, who shared the snap on Monday, saying: “What is this…”
The tweet was liked more than 4,000 times and saw thousands more quote it as they compared Styles’ look from everything including Kermit the Frog, brussels sprouts, The Green Goblin to even a grasshopper.
But similarities with the animated character from Dr. Seuss were the most prevalent, as @Excalibhr tweeted: “Ate the grinch…”
@Kirbysaurusrex reckoned: “Grinch core aesthetic,” while Sabine A. asked: “Did he skin the Grinch?”
Youngindigo also questioned: “What Grinch is this.” Justin joked: “How The Grinch Slayed Christmas,” while N!cki added: “Grinch after getting that monthly check.”

Comparing his look to another cartoon, G.O. tweeted: “This is what the people in the background of the animated version of 101 Dalmatians wore.”
Referencing other green objects, Jason Schnur wrote “lettuce wrap,” Jjmplsmn asked “a grasshopper?” Another character also referenced was “Kermit in fishnets?” by Haunted dog.
“He looks like he hid a bunch of trophies around Gotham and is gonna keep making fun of me until I find all of them,” A commented, and Cloe Frog Face Apologist quipped: “Frijolito grown up so much.” Blake thought “a centipede.”
But some were fans of the green look, as Gina Martin simply said “creativity,” while Jonny replied: “People don’t understand fashion. It’s a different language some people will never learn. It’s an editorial. Educate yourselves.”
In the Dazed interview, Styles claimed, referencing being a fashion icon: “It’s funny because I don’t think of myself that way.”
And speaking about his new beauty brand, Pleasing, he added: “I don’t think being beautiful or feeling beautiful is about looking good. When people are happy and glowing, they’re radiating. And that’s what I think the products do, it’s about helping you feel beautiful.
“Hmm, when do I feel my most beautiful? I would say internally, when I’ve finished meditating or something… Or maybe when I’m asleep!”
