Troy Eckert threw two touchdown passes and also ran for a score to lead Hawthorne to a 20-0 victory over Manchester Regional in Haledon.
Eckert, a senior, opened the scoring with a 66-yard TD run in the first quarter for Hawthorne (7-1). Eckert then connected with Ashton Navarrete for a 29-yard TD in the second quarter and later added an 18-yard TD pass to Jayden Shwed in the fourth. The touchdowns were Hawthorne’s only completed passes on the afternoon.
Shwed rushed for a team-high 110 yards on 15 carries. Eckert ran the ball four times for 96 yards and Navarrete added 70 yards on five carries. Michael Palmer paced the defense with an interception. Kevin Huffman made 14 tackles and Ed O’Hagan had 13.
Manchester Regional falls to 1-7.
