Air Max Day 2022 at Foot Locker: six of the best Nike trainers to bag before the big day

Air Max Day 2022 is almost here – start the celebrations early with six Nike trainers already on sale at Foot Locker

Air Max Day 2022 is a big deal, not least for stores across the world looking to get in on the action. One such trainer haven, Foot Locker, is celebrating with six models that, although not new for the big day – they’re actually already on sale – are pretty fresh out of the factory. So fresh, in fact, that you might not recognise any of them.

This smorgasbord of models is in stark contrast to Nike’s current official Nike Air Max Day 2022 drop, which has so far only confirmed one new trainer for Europe. What a trainer it is, though: the Nike Air Max 1 “La Ville-Lumière Printemps 2022”, an iridescent beauty that takes its inspiration – and name – from the original City of Lights, Paris.

But we’re not here to talk about Nike’s new releases, we’re here to talk about Foot Locker’s new releases: the trainers you can buy now to start your Kiss My Airs Rug celebrations early.

Nike Air Max 90 Terrascape

Outfitted in light hues, the sail-black-sea glass trainer is made up of recycled fabrics and materials, while a white mesh grid covers the toe caps, tongues and ankle collars. Faint green overlays stretch from the mudguards to the quarters with the main side swooshes extending to the heels. Translucent PVC eyelets hold the laces, while the tongues are stitched with “Terrascape” branding on the upper. A glass midsole upper with pastel-green crater foam to match the heel tabs sits on the speckled outsole.

Nike Tuned 1

The Nike Tuned 1 perfectly combines the qualities that made ’90s trainers great while fuelling the desire for original models, expertly blending high-performance components with the space-age design elements that millions of early fans associated with ‘the future’. Featuring a multi-panelled upper and supportive cage, the silhouette’s bold, wavy shape served as a precursor to many modern designs – but still does the business in its own right today.

Nike Tuned 1 Terrascape

We’ve covered the Nike Air Max 90 Terrascape and the Nike Tuned 1, so it stands to reason that the next model on the list is a hybrid of the two: the Nike Tuned 1 Terrascape. From mum, it inherits its futuristic shapes, and from dad, its light colourway. The result is a very attractive trainer.

Nike Air Max 90 Essential

That’s right – another version of our beloved Nike Air Max 90. Nike’s designers didn’t just look at the original and say “yes, but make it goth”: this model has more premium and durable materials than the original trainer and a block colourway that suits this iconic silhouette phenomenally well.

Nike Air Max Dawn

The Nike Air Max Dawn looks a lot like the Nike Tuned 1 Terrascape, Nike Air Max Pre-Day’s flagship release on Air Max Day 2021. It’s a shoe that blends the retro spirit of ’70s running with all the technical innovations of the Air Max range.

Nike Air Max Motif

The latest Nike Air Max that Foot Locker has chosen to celebrate the big day is the Motif, a hybrid that reminds us in part of the Nike Air Max 1 and the Air Max 90, but also includes details from some more modern silhouettes, such as the Nike Air Max Plus.
